Come fish on the land of fire & ice - Iceland!
Iceland is a mecca for every fisherman. It offers loads of waters, which are mostly private. This means all waters are only fished with a few rods per day. This means the fish do not get much pressure - thus the quality of the fishing is fantastic.
Iceland is one of the best countries of the world for targeting Atlantic salmon. Light rods, floating lines and small flies (sometimes on the surface) in gin-clear water is what Icelandic salmon fishing is all about.
Besides, you can fish for massive brown trout weighing up to over 30 pounds. Arctic char as well as sea-run brown trout also are on offer.
The first salmon river the Brits were fishing in Iceland. Private, great runs of (multi sea winter) salmon, and dozens of km and pools, fished by only 7 rods! The luxurious lodge overlooking the river, offers some of the best food you will ever be served in a fishing lodge. The river is fished best with single handed rods, floating lines and small flies.
The Langá is another one of those famous salmon rivers. Fished with only 12 rods, it offers 6 beats with several dozends km of water and pools. Also here, guests will enjoy some fine dining prepared by the great chef. The river is fished best with single handed rods, floating lines and small flies.
The Laxá or Big laxa is divided into three beats. Two of them above and one below the dam. Salmon only can travel up to the dam. Above the beats Myvatnssveit and Laxardalur are famous for their fantastic brown trout fishing. Some people say this is the best brown trout fishing of Europe. You can fish dry or with nymphs or streamers.
Both beats have a lodge with fullservice.
Season is from April until October. Salmon fishing is from June - September, sea-run browns are April and May as well as August-September. Brown trout are best targeted June-August and char as well (up to September).
