Explore the Beauty of the South of Los Alerces National Park
Laguna Larga Lodge is set right on the shore of lovely Laguna Larga, adjacent to the Los Alerces National Park. It offers exclusive bookings for one party at a time with service that is just about as personal as you can find.
There are four guest rooms, each with private bathroom. All rooms enjoy a view to the lake and the surrounding peaks of the Andes. Guests gather in very comfortable and open rooms inside or outside on the lake-facing deck. There is a table for fly tying and an open bar. The style is classic Argentine Patagonia, with handcrafted wooden furnishings and textiles creating a warm atmosphere.
If you have a passion for fly fishing, Argentina has always been on your list of 'must-see' destinations. Its unique combination of outstanding wild trout fishing, jaw-dropping scenery, and a dynamic culture is unmatched. But with so many options, where does one start in planning the ideal trip?
El Encuentro Fly Fishing has been hosting travelers for decades, having spent countless hours and miles in search of the best fishing opportunities, best lodges and accommodations, and most appealing experiences for our guests.
Laguna Larga is home to beautiful large brown trout that are found in both the shallow waters of several small bays or along the deeper shores. Your El Encuentro guide will row you to the best spots in his raft. An added advantage of staying at the lodge, is getting to experience the excitement of the evening caddis hatch. The lake fishes well all season long.
From Laguna Larga Lodge, anglers can also easily fish the famed waters of Los Alerces National Park, including the Rio Rivadavia, the Rio Arrayanes, Rio Carrileufu, Lago Verde, Lago Kruger and others. You have the chance of hooking into brown, rainbow and brook trout as well as landlocked salmon. If the rivers weren’t enough, the scenery will knock your socks off! The park waters are best fished from early November to mid-January.
It's our goal to craft each trip based on your individual needs and priorities.
And to best accommodate those needs, our unique approach offers the option for multiple destinations as part of your trip.
Whether it's staying at our own El Encuentro Lodge, or one of our network of hand-selected lodges and estancias in the region, we're able to 'build' each trip based
on your fishing preferences, time of year, budget, preferred non-fishing activities, and just about any other variable that is important to you.
El Encuentro Fly Fishing has spent over 30 years building relationships with only the top fishing destinations in central Patagonia and northern Argentina.
The region in which we work encompasses dozens of superb fisheries for both trout and golden dorado, with a mix of public and private waters. We know when each fishes best, which lodges and estancias are the right choice for you, and will custom plan your itinerary to match your priorities and expectations so your trip is just as memorable as you imagined.
Beside our own EEFF Lodge we are partnered with following destinations in Central Patagonia and Northern Argentina - we organize your stay there in any combination you wish:
Whether for trout or golden dorado, there are literally dozens of fishing experiences available — not to mention cultural and non-fishing destinations worth exploring — so we recommend contacting us to help you plan the ideal itinerary for you and your group, based on your target species, amount of time you have in Argentina, time of year, and style of fishing you prefer.
Option 1: Regarding our Dorado fishing program, we run it from September to November and from February to May. Our partnership with Golden Dorado River Cruiser allows an extension to our normal week trout fishing program. We suggest a stay for no less than three or four nights / three days of Dorado fishing.
Option 2: We also have a great option for those clients spending some time in Buenos Aires and would like to try Dorado fishing. We can arrange with our friend and partner, Urban Dorado, a great fishing day in the Rio de La Plata Delta, less than 45 minutes away from down town Buenos Aires.

TRAVEL NOTE:
All of our great fishing programs are located in the province of Chubut, in Patagonia, Argentina. The main city which provides services to this area is Esquel (EQS). Aerolineas Argentinas is the only airline which maintains a daily flight to Esquel airport from Buenos Aires. Another option is to fly from Buenos Aires to Bariloche depending on the day and time of your arrival and departure. Bariloche has up to 5 flights per day from Buenos Aires every day of the week. The transfer time to Esquel from Bariloche is about 4 hours. There is an additional cost for us to meet you at the Bariloche airport (USD 350 per vehicle which seats 3 passengers).
FLYING TO ARGENTINA
From the US
United, American, Delta, Aerolíneas Argentinas, and LAN have non- stop service to Buenos Aires from Miami, New York, Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston. Your flights should be booked from your city of origin to Buenos Aires.
From England / Europe
British Airways and other european Airlines has direct flights to Buenos Aires.
AIRPORTS
Buenos Aires has two airports - Ezeiza (EZE, international) and Aeroparque (AEP, domestic). Almost all international flights arrive into Ezeiza and most domestic flights in Argentina depart from Aeroparque. It is necessary to transfer by taxi or shuttle from the international airport to the domestic airport for your flight to Patagonia.
Depending on the time your international flight lands, you might be able to travel directly to Patagonia on the same day. Please keep in mind that you should plan to land in Ezeiza at least 3 hours before your domestic flight. This gives you at least one hour to clear immigrations and customs, one hour to transfer between airports, and one hour ahead of your flight time to check in for your domestic flight to Patagonia. We recommend staying a night in Buenos Aires on your way down so that you arrive into Patagonia well rested and ready to start the week of fishing the following day.
In either Esquel or Bariloche, one of our staff will be present to meet you for your transfer by car to the lodge.
On your return, please keep in mind that the flight from Esquel lands in Aeroparque at around 6.30, so you need to plan for half an hour to claim luggage and an hour to an hour and a half to transfer to Ezeiza international airport. For flights out of Ezeiza, you need to arrive 2 to 3 hours before departure time. So you shouldn’t book a flight before 10 pm. We recommend you stay a night in Buenos Aires to keep your travel back home more relaxed, and we can help arrange activities in the city for you to enjoy before your departure.
BUENOS AIRES
If you decide to stay in Buenos Aires for a night (or more), and we do recommend it, El Encuentro Fly Fishing can help you organize your stay there. We have a good network of people who can help you enjoy your time there safely. We are happy to help with any domestic flights, hotel recommendations or reservations, transfers, city guides and tours, tango shows, restaurants, etc. Buenos Aires is quite an incredible city with remarkable culture, architecture, entertainment, dining, polo matches, and is of course the birthplace of Tango music and dancing. It is recommended that you overnight either on the way to Patagonia or from Patagonia (or both) to enjoy a day or two in the city. You'll need to make reservations for hotels.
If you'd like, we can recommend either a local or an Argentina-specialized US travel agent to make all the reservations you need, and to ensure first class service and a seamless transition with El Encuentro Fly Fishing. Our agents will save you time searching and thinking about travel and also ensure that you get the absolute best prices and service. They are also easily contacted and available to help you with any travel issues you might encounter during your vacation.
At El Encuentro Fly Fishing, one of the things we're most proud of is the number of guests who return each year. Perhaps that's because of our variety of fishing opportunities, or our friendly guides, or the amazing scenery — or maybe it's all of those combined. We love to say welcome to you in Central Patagonia.
